Teachers: Connect your students with history

I’m History, Get me out of here connects school students with historians to learn about historical figures.

From 4 to 15 October 2021, school students can connect with historians and activists to learn about the figures that helped shape the modern-day UK, through the UK Black History Zone.

I’m History, Get me out of here is asking students to explore Black British history – learn about The Ivory Bangle Lady, whose ‘high-status’ burial ground has taught us about the diversity of Roman York, or John Edmonstone, the man who taught taxidermy to Charles Darwin while he was a student at the University of Edinburgh.

Everyone can take part from school or home.

It’s a flexible online activity!

Students can:

  • Read profiles of historical figures
  • Chat with historians, in live text-only chats
  • Ask them questions

It all happens online. It’s safe and secure. It’s free for UK state-maintained schools.
